Zotero has no institutional customer support service, but the Zotero website provides extensive information, including instructional screencasts, troubleshooting tips, a list of known issues, and user forums. It can annotate PDFs and synchronize them with any of its desktop apps and its iOS app.Īs of 2022, Zotero supports more than forty languages (some of them not totally translated ). Zotero can associate notes with bibliographic items. Furthermore, all entries including bibliographic information and user-created rich-text memos of the selected articles can be summarized into an HTML report. Selections of the local reference library data can later be exported as formatted bibliographies. Items are organized through a drag-and-drop interface, and can be searched. Users can then add notes, tags, attachments, and their own metadata.

Zotero can also save a copy of the webpage, or, in the case of academic articles, a copy of the full text PDF. For mobile devices or browsers that do not support the Zotero Connector extension a bookmarklet is available. Such functionality is made possible by 'translators' – short pieces of computer code, or scripts to understand the structure of web pages and to parse them into citations using its internal formats. Clicking this icon saves reference information to the Zotero library. I have found some files by directly searching the macbook for them, but they are all over the place, rather than in the zotero storage folder. In the local storage on my laptop there are many folders, but most of them are empty. These files seem to have disappeared out of the zotero library - when I click on the item title in zotero i get the message "file not found", and some titles seem to have disappeared altogether. My remaining problem is that most of my library was stored only locally on my computer (I think, as I understand it!?) as I had run out of online storage. I have re-downloaded the Zotero add on and logged in to my old online Zotero account through the website and through syncing restored that part of my library which was stored online.

I agreed to the update nonetheless, but was then concerned when I couldn't find Zotero (and all my info!!) at all.
Firefox asked me if I wanted to update and did warn this would include my add ons.
